SG Wiki

The Burny SG models were introduced in 1982 alongside the Revival Series RSG models, and were essentially just their various SG copies outside the Revival Series. The MSG models were limited runs done for retailer Mikata.

SG-75 AY (Musician's Series)[]

83 Burny SG75 AY

1983

This was an unofficial Angus Young signature model, inspired by one of Angus' favorite SGs, the 1970/1971 SG Standard seen in the Back in Black promo videos. It later had lightning bolt inlays installed around 1982, and the SG-75 AY was updated in 1984 to reflect that. The only difference is the finish, which is Walnut on Angus' original.

While not listed in the 1982 catalog, some examples have pots dating to 1982. They could have been early production for the 1983 release, could have been released in 1982 and simply not been listed in the catalog due to space constraints, or they may simply have gotten older pots installed.

The easiest way to distinguish this model from an RSG-75 is the tuners. Because they used a larger screw-in bushing, they cannot be easily replaced with Kluson-style tuners and vice-versa.
