SG Wiki

The Orville (by Gibson) EDS-1275 was introduced in 1993, being a copy of the Gibson EDS-1275. However, unlike the Gibson version, the Orville is equipped like Jimmy Page's EDS-1275, with Mahogany necks, uncovered six-string pickups and tailpieces positioned further back. In late 1993, the Orville by Gibson line was discontinued, and this model was re-named SGD-160 as a regular Orville model without Gibson pickups, and adding volutes to the necks. By 1996, it was discontinued.

These guitars were produced for the Japanese market only, through distributor Yamano. They were all made in Japan, by manufacturers Terada and Fujigen. For information on serial numbers, see GuitarsJapan.com and LiquiSearch.com.
