The SG Select was introduced in 2007, briefly displacing the SG Supreme as the most expensive Gibson USA SG, and was only produced through early 2008. Unlike the Supreme (which was based on a '61 Reissue), the Select was based on the SG Standard. Its features are similar to the SG Elegant, and it could be seen as a USA version of that model. Unlike both of those guitars, however, it featured a solid flamed maple body all the way through, with no mahogany back.
